Carol’s Biography
Let’s see. I had a pretty normal childhood, which doesn’t do much to explain who I am now. I’m told I’m normal for a writer, so that’s good. I graduated with a BA in Humanities from Kutztown State College (now University—it’s been awhile) in Pennsylvania. Since I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up, I joined the Air Force and spent twelve years on active duty. Not only did I receive amazing leadership training, I also met the man who became my husband. Tom and I have been married for 30 years and have two sons, Daniel and David. Dan is in grad school and Dave is married and working in finance.
I love to sing in our church choir. For the past two years I’ve been on staff at our church as worship and music director for our traditional service. I also head up special projects such as bringing Awaken Ministries Drama to perform (www.Awakenonline.org for more info) and leading a task force for some minor renovations to our sanctuary.
I’ve been on a writing sabbatical for several years, taking time to discern God’s direction for my life. Recently some doors have opened and I’m working on a new project. My friend Susan Gontarek and I recently sent a non-fiction proposal to my agent. The book is called “Finding Grace in the Mirror” and is based on Susan’s many years as a hairdresser and leader of womens’ ministry at her church. Susan does the writing and I do the editing. We’ll let you know the verdict as soon as I hear back.
I have been doing some freelance editing for The Fiction Fix-It Shop, owned by another dear friend, Meredith Efken. I enjoy working with authors to help them craft their stories into works of art. For editing services you may contact thefictionfixitshop.com or contact me directly.
These two adorable rascals are our Jack Russell Terriers, Molly and Jersey. You don’t have to be crazy to own two of them, but it helps!
